Western Auto Supply Company was founded in 1909, by George
Pepperdine in Kansas City. It started out as a mail order catalog at first, he
later opened his first retail store in 1913. He started out by sell parts for
the Model T Ford. Model T's were sold without windshields, fenders and many
other things that we take for granted today. Western Auto expanded to 250 stores
in 1959. Western Auto merged with Advance Auto Parts in 1998.
Through the years Western Auto expaned sales in many areas.
In 1941 they started to carry the Western Flyer Outboard. They sold a 2.5 and
a 5 horsepower. There brand name after the War was Wizard and they expanded to
carry a full line of outboards.
